B read Knights Qc-VI

The idea
Mr. Julien Lafrenière, while hiking in the mid-west of the United States, saw his attention awakened by a sign. It was announced there "Blue Knights Memorial" with the inscription of the distance to get there. The destination turned out to be a State Troopers post. It said "In memory of the Blue Knights" of this state. He found a magazine that displayed the photo of this monument.
On his return to Quebec he spoke to Jacques Rivard, who was then president of our chapter. Why not have our Blue Knights memorial for members of Quebec?
The preparation
Mr. Lafrenière set to work to find a place to install such a monument. We had to find a central place in Quebec, easy to access and be able to regroup there. We received a warm welcome from the Municipality of Nicolet. They offered us a space in the Marguerite d'Youville Municipal Park on Route 132, very close to the facilities of the National Police School of Quebec. This location met the targeted objectives.
In 2005, Mr. Lafrenière formed a committee to carry out the project. Joined Jacques Rivard, Daniel Leblanc, Jacques Paquette and Bill McKay, now replaced by Robert (Bob) Lacombe.
The objective was to inscribe on a monument the names of the Blue Knights members who died, while they were active in a chapter of Quebec. retroactively from the year the chapters were founded. The presidents of Quebec have agreed: on the shape of the monument, its financing, the financial contribution of the chapters, the maintenance of the site as well as the sustainability of the site.
The establishment
The project was adopted at the annual meeting of presidents on January 12, 2008. All the chapters of Quebec participated in the funding of the monument. Sponsors also contributed financially to the project.
Since the inauguration of May 8, 2008, the annual ceremony in memory of our deceased active members has been held in Nicolet in this park made available to us by the Municipality of Nicolet. Several members, friends and families of the deceased from all chapters gather there to honor the memory and memories of these people in a spirit of brotherhood.
Our thanks
We would like to thank the city of Nicolet for welcoming us and taking care of the upkeep of the site.
The police academy that offers us parking and its facilities.
Mr. Lafrenière, founding member of our chapter, who was involved in this file for 5 years.
Our thanks to all the chapters of Quebec for their implications.
